Who says New Yorkers can’t get their nature fix in the city? Saturday, Ed and I took a really nice bike ride, from our home in Park Slope, over the Brooklyn Bridge, to High Line Park. The High Line is breathtaking and they just opened the second section last month. I just love the way it’s architects have managed to blur the boundaries between nature and (hu)man-made. What is interesting is that the High Line is completely remade, yet still retains an image of the run-down, over-run with wild flowers, above ground track that was neglected for so many years. Inspired by the old, the High Line has been manicured and the indigenous wild flowers that once overtook it are now tamed into a sort of wild garden. It is really fantastic.
