“The biggest obstacle to creativity is breaking through the barrier of disbelief.” – Rodney Mullen
I recently got back into skateboarding after years away from it. I basically quit when I moved to NYC in 1999. I didn’t have any friends who skated and I was so busy working that I didn’t have the time anyway. Recently I came across this video and it inspired me to pull my board out of storage. I’ve been skating mini ramp about twice a week and it’s incredible how your muscles remember things. It is so much fun and, like yoga, there’s always something new to master. It’s a full on mind/body sport that requires you to be 100% present and doesn’t allow for multi-tasking. The perfect escape.
Rodney explains the art of skateboarding so beautifully and his message is applicable to any creative person striving to invent something new. Watch it. You’ll be inspired.
