BRVTVS is a New York based fine jewelry studio run by my friend, Caroline Ventura. Caroline hand-crafts every stunning piece in her studio. I love the honest and understated, yet sophisticated simplicity of her pieces.

Caroline and I first connected over our dogs! We have the same breed dog (Wirehaired Pointing Griffon). Her Darryl is about six months older than my Lola, so when Lola was a puppy she was my invaluable puppy-counselor when my pup was going through her growing pains.

Check out Caroline’s dreamy Instagram.

Supakitch

Supakitch is a Brooklyn based artist from France who draws the most fantastical, dreamy images. He works on everything from skin (tattoos) to murals and everything in between. Today, on Instagram, he posted the most beautiful lotus flower covered skateboard deck (top left). I would love this board and I really wish he’d put it into production because I’d snatch it up in a second. It seems to be a one-off for a Vice art exhibition. He’s also done some really beautiful surfboards as well.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to post about these gorgeous leather baskets, a collaboration by my friends, Alissia Melka-Teichroew and Mimot Studio.

Alissia is a talented NYC based product designer who works with a variety of materials, including plastics and natural leathers. She works with a range of production methods, from 3D printing and laser cutting to hand crafted, always finding new and unexpected uses for materials. I love how the planter basket suddenly makes the ubiquitous terra cotta pot into a design object.

Sicily

This summer, I took the most amazing vacation to Sicily! My maternal grandma was Sicilian and I’d always dreamt of seeing where that side of the family came from. We drove around for two weeks, visiting some of the most beautiful towns on the island. Everywhere we went was unique in its own way. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Maya Hayuk

I recently came across Brooklyn based artist, Maya Hayuk’s killer mural on Houston and the Bowery. I’m so in love with her work.

Munire Kirmaci

Mimi K. is one of my closest friends. We met over ten years ago, studying industrial design at Pratt Institute. She is a very talented Turkish designer with a unique perspective on design. She is based in Brooklyn and mostly designs products for the home. Here are a couple of her pieces and they are both available for purchase on her website. *I’m lucky enough to own both of them.

Lola says hello

Just a quick Lola update to say she’s growing and doing well! She’s a year and three months now and equal parts rascal and sweetheart.
